I grew up watching my mom sew clothes for our family. She made us pants, shorts, shirts—she even made my prom dress when I was in high school. I have wonderful memories of watching her sew away while I played nearby.
Sadly, it wasn’t until long after I moved far away from my mom and her sewing skills and started having my own children that I decided I wanted to learn how to sew. But it’s never too late to learn a new skill! Sewing has become one of my passions and I spend some time sewing nearly every day.
Shortly after starting to learn to sew clothes, I realized that there aren’t enough modern clothing patterns out there. So I decided to start drafting my own, based off of the ready to wear styles I owned and loved. I opened my Etsy shop in 2013 where I sell my patterns. The Pattern Shop tab will take you there.
My husband Jon is the one who does the hard stuff, like digitizing the patterns in Illustrator (I draft them on butcher paper) and designing this website. He’s always there to give me a second opinion on my latest sewing ideas. He even sits down and sews occasionally! (He grew up watching his mom sew, too.) I’d say we make a great team.
Besides sewing, I love running and being outside. Jon teaches physics and loves photography and cycling. We have three boys that fill our lives with excitement.
